My first corn Empty My first corn

So he/she is very jumpy, What's best to do, pick it up and handle lots. Or leave it to settle into its new home for a few days. Also how likely is it to actually bite? Probably a silly question but it recoils into itself at the slightest touch, does this mean it'll bite if i continue?

Anyway heres a pic

If you have only just got him, leave him for a week or two to get used to his new surroundings.

As other people have suggested, start by putting your hand inside the tank so he gets used to your smell. It sounds like he's recoiling because he's scared, if it's a new environment with new people around him he's bound to be.

Start off slowly, make no sudden movements around him and don't grab him. When you do start to pick him up, do it slowly, pick him up from the middle and let him come to you.

Good luck Smile

As others have said the more you handle your snake the calmer it will become. Just be gentle with it.

If it does bite you , dont worry , it wont hurt Very Happy

enjoy your snake

One week in, and we're doing good, still a little nervous, couple of loud hisses with the mouth wide open, and a little closed mouth striking. But nothing major. Always settles after a few seconds in my hand. Had first feed on friday and appears to have gone down nicely Very Happy

Oh and had quite a bit of tail rattling, if it could talk I'm sure it'd be saying ' I think you've accidently bought a poisoness rattle snake, no worries easy mistake to make, just don't touch me!' lol!

They make me laugh when they have attitude like that when they are so tiny.

What you have to remember is that you are a huge giant to it but you'll soon learn to trust each other.
