Gutloading crickets and mealworms
Gutloading means feeding up the livefood you are going to feed your lizards. This is so your lizards get plenty of nutrients from the livefood.
You can buy many different gutloading forumlas but they can be very expensive. We make our own, and feed them every 3 days.
We use:
Oats as substrate
A handful of branflakes
A few tablespoons of Tropical fish food
Veg (scraps or peelings are fine.)
For crickets it is important to dust them with calcium dust before feeding to your lizards. Calcium dust is important as it keeps your gecko's bones strongs and helps to prevent metabolic bone disease, which can make gecko's very ill.
Crickets also need some moisture. Carrots are fine, or you can buy cricket gel. But make sure the container they're kept in has good ventilation and do not leave any mouldy substances in with them.
